Amsterdam-based parking startup Parkbee has received a 1.8 million euro investment from regional development fund InnovationQuarter and four informal investors. The money will be used to accelerate their business in the UK.

Parkbee makes parking lots from businesses available for consumers, thus saving space and money. In The Netherlands it serves 34 parking lots with 1800 parking spaces. It is also cooperating with popular parking apps like Parkmobile and Park-line.

The startup was founded in 2014 by Chinese entrepreneur Jian Jiang and UK entrepreneur Tom Buchmann, who lived as an expat in The Netherlands and is now active in the UK with the English expansion.

ParkBee was incubated at YES!Delft, took part in the accelerator Climate-KIC South Holland and is backed by the ESA Business Incubation Centre in Noordwijk. It has its HQ now in Amsterdam, in Rotterdam the startup will work on R&D.

Sharing economy

"With this investment InnovationQuarter helps the sharing economy. In this time the optimum use of buildings is socially and environmentally important", said Francis Quint from the investment fund.

Wouter de Bruijne, commercial director Parkbee: "There's still more possible with our technology. This investment helps us to invest in the development of new functionalities and to keep growing in the future."
