Dutch video recruitment startup Vicancy from Utrecht is expanding its offices to Antwerp in Belgium, where it will participate in the iStart incubation programme.

From September 1st the startup will open an office in Belgium – it already started the programme there. Vicancy will also keep working from Utrecht in The Netherlands, and Bali.

After successfully graduating from the 3-month UtrechtInc programme last year, Vicancy now looks for more. The iStart programme lasts 12 months, and that’s one of the reasons the team chose to go to Belgium. “We think this programme is more durable than other initiatives in the markt”, CEO Loet Rammelsberg said.

iMinds, the organization behind the programme, typically invests 50.000 euro in startups (convertible loan). That’s a lot different than for instance Startupbootcamp, which offers 15k for a 8 percent stake.

From recruitment videos to ad-server

Another reason to step into this programme is a possible pivot: “iStart has a lot of experience with digital business models and a great network. We want to use that to sharpen our businessmodel into an ‘ad-server for the recruitment market’”.

Vicancy already offers advertising space for recruiters on targeted websites to give attention to job openings. From there on applicants can send in a video resume.

“Next to that our office in Belgium is a great way to test our proposition in another market and gain experience for further expansion”, said Rammelsberg.
