After the alliance between Startupbootcamp and HighTechXL ended earlier this year, both parties reportedly didn't want to continue with one another. The former team of HighTechXL moved on without Startupbootcamp, but now with the support of the so called Eindhoven Startup Alliance – a group of Dutch corporates and public sector organizations.

The Eindhoven Startup Alliance has agreed to fund the new incubation and acceleration programmes of HighTechXL for the coming five years, the mayor of Eindhoven Rob van Gijzel announced today at the High Tech Capital event. It is also intending to support the startups participating in the programmes directly through mentoring and other means.

Members of the alliance (in alphabetical order) are ABN AMRO, ASML, Brabant Development Agency (BOM), Brainport Development, EY and HVG, High Tech Campus Eindhoven, the municipality of Eindhoven, NTS Group and Philips.

HighTechXL versus Startupbootcamp

The organization will create an incubation space for early-stage startups in collaboration with Bright Move – an early-phase incubator of the Technical University of Eindhoven. HighTechXL will run a series of six-month acceleration programmes that cover the phase from prototype to market entry, followed by an extra year of support during the growth stage. Startupbootcamp acceleration programmes usually take three months, with an optional three months of extra incubation time.

HighTechXL is aiming to accelerate at least a hundred hardware companies by 2020 (right now it started with seven startups in April). Startupbootcamp usually aims to accelerate 20 (2 x 10) startups a year, which is about the same. It is aiming to launch applications for high tech startups again by mid 2016.
