This year’s edition of the internationally renowned festival South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, TX, will turn even more orange than usual. On March 12, a special Dutch House will open to give the Dutch creative industry (interactive media, film and music) its own podium.

The Dutch Take Over House will be an addition to the other Dutch initiatives at SXSW. Startup Envoy Constantijn van Oranje will formally open the Dutch House on March 12.

The House is part of a new initiative, the “New Dutch Wave,” which is supported by the public and the private sector in the Netherlands. Government participation is aimed at a unified approach to present the Netherlands as a whole.

SXSW takes place March 10-19, 2017, and is considered to be the cutting-edge of interactive media, video and music. More than 200 artists will perform at the festival. Since 1987, South by Southwest has seen performances of Bruce Springsteen, Prince and Jay-Z. Last year, President Obama delivered a speech at the festival.

“New Dutch Wave” is URL and IRL: a showcase pavilion at the festival and at the same time an online platform for leading creative companies. It embodies the Netherlands’ top 10 position worldwide as a creative nation. The “New Dutch Wave” is supported by a new consortium of the Corrino Media GroupWink and Enterprise Summit.
