It’s the biggest investment in history in Europe when it comes to software investments. The money is meant for a global roll-out. World domination for MessageBird?!

Cloudcommunication platform aims for global growth

The $60m series A round was led by Accel and participation from Atomico (London) and Y Combinator as a co-investor. The money will be used for team expansion around the world, global brand awareness, strengthen the balance sheet and launch a voice-API. MessageBird wants to focus on showing they are a reliable partner for large enterprises.

MessageBird provides professional B2B messaging services

Robert Vis founded MessageBird in 2011 with his co-founder Adriaan Mol. They tackled several technical issues like messages that were arriving too late or not at all. MessageBird provides a secure platform with the right tools for enterprises to communicate fast, cost effective and user friendly. Local legislations and regulations are extra obstacles. MessageBird made it it’s core business to make sure your messages and voice calls get through the web of rules and regulations.

Disrupter in telecom

MessageBird is called a disruptor in the telecom industry by Accell and already services 15.000 international clients, varying from ING to Uber. This year they aim for a revenue of 100 million dollar. This Series-A round is the first external investment round. In their blog Vis explains why they stopped bootstrapping.
