After 2 years at StartupDelta, our team member Willemijn decided to leave the team to work on her own startup Flickfeeder. Instead of working for the ecosystem, she’s taking a deep dive into the ecosystem. Practice what you preach, right? What is Flickfeeder about and what are the takeaways from her time at StartupDelta. Let’s find out.

Professionally edited photos in minutes

Instead of waiting hours or even weeks, the Flickfeeder platform allows photographers to deliver their photos within minutes. The photos are carefully selected and edited by a professional without losing the quality of the RAW files (i.e. not yet processed files). This way, thousands of photos are processed into powerful selections that are ready to use for the press, social media, and live showcasing.

“We want to change the status quo. In a fast paced world, you don’t want to wait for your photos anymore, but you also don’t want to lose quality. You want to have both speed and quality, so professional photography with the speed of an iPhone. That’s what we deliver.”

They already got a good client base, with clients such as TEDxAmsterdam, ID&T, and the CTA. StartupDelta also worked with Flickfeeder on several projects like StartupFest Europe and the trade missions to CES and Hannover Messe.

Takeaways from StartupDelta

What are her top 5 takeaways from working at StartupDelta and getting to know the startup ecosystem:

1. The Netherlands is a pretty good place to start your company

“Compared to other countries, the Dutch ecosystem is a pretty good place to start. There are so many initiatives to help startups. You see more and more collaborations between startup initiatives, corporates, and the government to help or collaborate with new innovations.”

2. Know the ecosystem and the people that are driving it

“The ecosystem isn’t that big, so investing a bit of time into networking will definitely pay off in the end.”

3. There is a whole network of people available to help out

“In a world where everything is being automated, in the end, it’s all about the people you meet and talk to. Sometimes talking to mentors, investors and other founders is even more valuable than creating the next feature.”

4. Be ambitious

“In my first 1.5-year StartupDelta, we had a very ambitious plan of action to get create more access to capital, network, talent, and skills. You will be surprised how much we actually managed to do with the small team we had.”

5. Always be learning

“I always look for new things or skills to learn. That’s how I came across the Growth Tribe Academy for example. I have the feeling that I’m always behind or something, which is probably true…”

What’s Next

Like any other startup, nothing glamorous but hard work: “We want to change the way photographers work, making it more efficient and fluent. We are still developing the platform and are looking for funding to make an app as well. We had the opportunity to pitch at TNW and will be taking part in the Accenture Innovation awards. And we’ll probably take any other opportunity to pitch to get the word out.”

And if not pitching, you will definitely see one of the Flickfeeder photographers walking around at other events. Definitely a startup to watch!
