E-trade mission to Hangzhou organized by Alibaba Benelux, Rabobank and StartupDelta oversubscribed by 100%
More than 150 representatives of companies and startups  from categories such as mother & baby, food, fashion and home amongst others will participate in the trip which will take place on March 16-17, 2017

The e-trade mission’s aim is to introduce Dutch and Belgian businesses to the wide range of commercial opportunities in the Chinese market that Alibaba’s platforms offer.

Alibaba, Rabobank and StartupDelta joined forces to organise this mission to introduce Dutch and Belgian businesses to the wide range of commercial opportunities in the Chinese market that Alibaba’s platforms offer.

Among the companies joining the trip are also 12 Dutch startups, which have been handpicked from the many applicants by Startup Bootcamp and Alibaba Benelux to join Special Startup Envoy Constantijn van Oranje on this trip.

Roland Palmer, Managing Director Alibaba Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg says:

“The strong interest in joining the first-ever European e-trade mission to our headquarters in China clearly shows that there’s a huge appetite amongst businesses in the Netherlands and Belgium to branch out and engage in cross-border trade. We’re excited to bring to life how Alibaba can help Dutch and Belgian businesses enter the Chinese market and connect them to the over 440 million active buyers on Alibaba’s platforms, and we look forward to working closely with local businesses who are looking to expand into China’

Alibaba’s mission is to make it easy to do business anywhere. The company was founded to champion small businesses, in the belief that the Internet would level the playing field by enabling small enterprises to leverage innovation and technology to grow and compete more effectively in the domestic and global economies.

It is the first time in the company’s history that a European e-trade mission of this size will visit the Alibaba headquarters in Hangzhou.  During the two-day long trip, participating companies will visit Alibaba's headquarter in Hangzhou, and meet with top management from Alibaba. The mission further provides one-on-one meetings with teams from a number of Alibaba platforms and ample opportunity to network with the other participants.

Constantijn van Oranje, Special Envoy StartupDelta says:  “StartupDelta’s mission is to pave the way for startups in The Netherlands and abroad. This trade mission to Alibaba’s headquarters is a unique opportunity for e-commerce startups to discover the opportunities in the Chinese market that can be seized through Alibaba. We seek to be inspired and exploit this opportunity to expand into the Chinese market and to strengthen the ties between Chinese, Belgian and Dutch ecosystems”.

Coert Beerman, Head Wholesale Rabobank says “Rabobank has a strong global network and this partnership means we can connect companies in the Netherlands with the e-commerce market in China, stimulating the Dutch retail sector.“
