Here’s what you need to know about the Dutch startup scene:

Funding, launches & updates

Uber is thinking of a new version of its service in The Netherlands, de Volkskrant writes. The taxi company wants to hire real chauffeurs, because the controversial UberPOP is illegal here.

According to several Dutch media SolarFreezer got “several millions” from construction company VolkerWessels and Innovationfund Twente. The startup heats homes with solar power, aiming to get rid of the gas bill.

Rotterdam based startup Openlab launched this week. In contrary to what the name suggests, the company promises anonymous self-testing for infections such as STDs – skipping the visit to an practitioner or a health center.

Video recruitment startup Vicancy is expanding to Belgium by attending a 12-month incubation programme in Antwerp.
